Workcamps in Austria 2006 YAPA 01 Body & Soul Frohnleiten 10/03-31/03 RENO 18+ 8 YAPA 04 Body & Soul Frohnleiten 02/09-23/09 RENO 18+ 8 FEE: 30€ WORK: The NGO “Leib & Söl” (English: Body and soul) will found an institution for disadvantaged people where they can stay and work during the day. The sheltered workshop itself will be close to Frohnleiten and will be established in the first 4 months of 2006. A former restaurant will be changed into a sheltered workshop for physically and mental disadvantaged people and should start to run in May 2006. Beside the very specific work, like piping, installation of heating; there is also a lot of work to do where the association needs some helping hands. There is for eg. help needed with painting the walls, digging up the ground and passing the heating pipes. The work should be finished at the end of march, so that the people can start to use the house in may. We will finish the basic work till the end of march (piping, installation of heating, installation of sanitary equipment, hopefully also the conversion of the garage into a carpenters workshop) Weekly there will be around 30 working hours. In the evenings and at night we will activities together at least 3 times/ week. We will have some excursions to Graz (cultural capital 2004), Passail (Possibility for hiking, mountains,…) as well as playing soccer, music events and bowling ACCOMMODATION: The sheltered workshop is in Peugen, 2.5km north from Frohnleiten. Frohnleiten is 20km north from Graz and easy to reach by bus and train. The participants of the workcamp will stay in the 1st floor of the house where there is a shower/toilet and a possibility to cook. LANGUAGE: English LOCATION: Peugen / Frohnleiten. TERMINAL: The easiest way to reach Peugen is to take a train to Graz and from there another train to Frohnleiten. From Vienna you take a train to Bruck/Mur and from there to Frohnleiten. The group will also organize a youth festival for the final presentation with the playing of the theatre piece and different dance performances of youth groups at the festival. Besides the theatre playing the group will also renovate a part of a social organisation. Moreover, you will work with handicapped people. We want to offer them the possibility to get to know people from all over the world. In this way we want to set an example of integration. We will renovate a part of the a famous public park located in Vienna. For example we will plant trees and creating a wooden oak sculpture. The work will start on Monday 31th of August. We will work five days a week, approximately six hours a day. Apart from our work, the volunteers can participate in a creative photo workshops. We will work together with local youth groups and local volunteers. Moreover, you will work with handicapped people. We want to offer them the possibility to get to know people from all over the world. In this way we want to set an example of integration. During the weekends, we will plan different activities to get to know the city of Vienna and a little bit of Austria. At the end of the workcamp we will try to organize a festival including the official inauguration of the park – you will have the chance as well to work on the design of the festival. YAPA 05 Finstergruen South Salzburg 11/09-21/09 RENO 18+ 15 FEE: 30€ WORK: The project is in cooperation of us (the association GRENZENLOS – Interkultureller Austausch which is a member of YAP Österreich) with the castle of Finstergruen, which officially belongs to the Protestant Youth of Austria, but is no religious project. The castle of Finstergruen – that means “dark green”, like the forests around – is a youth hostel nowadays, located in the Southern Salzburg state, in the middle of the Alps. All volunteers live in one room in the castle and also get their food from the canteen. Task is, to build a Labyrinth in the garden of the castle. Working tools will be provided by the castle. Personal mentors and technical advisors will support you. YOUR MENTORS are volunteers from Grenzenlos. They will help you with any kind of personal needs and organize a frame programme of activities. ACCOMMODATION: Castle; bath room, common sleeping room, dining hall, courts and surrounding meadows for leisure time. We will cook for ourselves. IMPORTANT : don’t expect urban life - please be aware that the place is in a remote area; at the castle you get all you need, but in a circle of some 50 kms you find only mountains and narrow valleys with villages and some small old towns!
